Sixers Players and Management to Personally Donate Tickets to Area Non-profit Organizations Through New 2008-09 Community Assists Program

Philadelphia, Pa. - December 10, 2008 – The Philadelphia 76ers announced today the formation of the 2008-09 Community Assists program, where Sixers players and front office officials purchase tickets to every home game at the Wachovia Center, which are in turn donated to area youth groups and non-profit organizations.

“Among the extensive list of community initiatives that we provide, this particular program allows all of us to give back to the community directly by sharing our passion for the game of basketball,” said Sixers President and General Manager Ed Stefanski. “Nothing gives us more pleasure than making the Sixers experience available to as many people as possible in the Philadelphia region.”

Beginning tonight when the Sixers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers at 8:00 p.m., banners with each group name will be displayed in the upper level of the Wachovia Center and featured during pre-game and halftime on the arenavision boards.

Last season, over 19,000 children and 215 non-profit groups were able to attend a Sixers home game courtesy of the Community Assists program.
