The 76ers Fit for Fun program, sponsored by Mid Atlantic Dairy, visited 100 children at the Main Line YMCA.
The Ambassador of Sixers Basketball World B. Free began the program by explaining to the children that in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle they must eat healthy foods. In reference to his successful NBA career Free said, "Staying healthy was one of the most important things I could have done."
Within the 60 minutes of the program, the children were also taught how to shoot the basketball personally by Free, taken through obstacle courses, and played an assortment of games and relay races. The 76ers Fit for Fun program taught the children how important eating right and staying active are, but more importantly, how it can be fun.
"It was enjoyable and educational at the same time," said Sammy Aronshick, one of the counselors at Main Line YMCA "The kids loved it and it was entertaining to watch them play all the games."
76ers Fit for Fun is one of the Sixers latest community programs and will make more stops this upcoming season.
