August 24, 2009 - Career Networking Night 2009-10

The Celtics are excited to offer our loyal season ticket holders a new benefit this season, geared specifically toward season ticket holders' friends and family members in high school and college. The Celtics Front Office will allow season ticket holders to invite young friends and family members to a Networking Night designed for students interested in pursuing a career in professional sports, marketing, sales, or other relevant areas of business. Read below for accounts of what two Celtics summer interns learned from the knowledge and experience of the Front Office staff.

Following my sophomore year at UNH, I began my internship with the Boston Celtics. Just like their players, the Celtics staff works together as a team to accomplish their goals. Their hard work leads to the success the Celtics have on and off the court.

During my internship I gained valuable knowledge about the professional sports industry. Celtics interns get to experience behind the scenes activities that really add to the amazing experience. Whether you are working in the office, lending a hand at a community event, or assisting with a Celtics event, everyday is exciting and insightful.

Networking Night with the Celtics will be a great opportunity to meet sports industry professionals. The Boston Celtics staff members can offer some great career advice to those interested in the sports field. After seeing firsthand the effort the Celtics Front Office staff put into their everyday activities, it's no wonder they own a record 17 NBA Championships!

- Brian Norman - University of New Hampshire
Ticket Sales and Operations Intern - Summer '09

The professional sports industry is a popular career path, so I learned quickly to start small and build my way up. Not only is it vital to seek out all opportunities, big and small, but it is also important to make the most of each opportunity. I spent this summer as an intern for the Celtics and during my internship I took the initiative to learn as much as possible from the front office staff.

Within my first week at the Celtics, I attended a meeting where I was repeatedly encouraged to show initiative. Heeding the given advice, I made a conscious effort to work outside of my department and ask for projects whenever I had free time. If I just sat back and took assignments as they came to me, I know I would not have learned as much during my internship.

Through this experience I have discovered how imperative it is to learn quickly and independently. Although my college coursework has taught me a great deal over the past three years, it has not covered everything I might face in the professional world. Networking Night will be a fantastic opportunity for high school and college students to learn what it's like to work for a professional sports franchise.

- Alyx Kaizerman - Southern Methodist University
Sales & Marketing Operations Intern - Summer '09

Details about the Celtics Networking Night including date and time of the event will be sent via Insider e-newsletter later this season. Thanks to all our interns for their hard work all summer long!

June 26, 2009 - Celtics Draft Lester Hudson With Pick No. 58

After waiting for more than four hours Thursday night, Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge used the 58th pick of the 2009 NBA Draft to grab Lester Hudson, a senior combo guard out of Tennessee Martin. The 6-foot-3, 190 pound former Skyhawk was the Celtics' lone pick in the draft.

Hudson declared for the NBA Draft in 2008 but pulled his name and returned for a stellar senior year in which he averaged 27.5 PPG, 7.9 RPG and 4.2 APG. He's a dynamic offensive talent who lit up the nets at a 44.9 percent clip during the 2008-09 season. He finished his senior campaign as the nation's second-highest scorer, behind the seventh pick in the draft, Stephen Curry (Davidson).

The four-year college player spent time playing both guard positions throughout his career and put up big numbers across the board in the process. He will add depth to the Celtics' backcourt and may be able to provide a nice scoring threat off of the bench.

Said Ainge of Hudson, "He's one of those guys who just really knows how to score the ball."

May 20, 2009 - Thank You for your Support!

The Boston Celtics would like to thank you, our loyal season ticket holders for your support throughout the 2008-09 season and 2009 NBA Playoffs. Although our incredible Playoff run ended earlier than we had hoped, we can look back on the team and individual achievements, as well as an endless highlight reel which included some of the most memorable moments in NBA history, and be proud of all that was accomplished this year.

This season tipped off with an emotional and exhilarating ring ceremony and Banner 17 raising which we will not soon forget. Off to yet another strong start, the C's surged through the mid season with a team record, 19 game winning streak. This season also boasted Kevin Garnett's 1,000th career game and Rajon Rondo's first of many triple doubles to come. Along with tremendous play by the Big Three and Perk, Rondo and Big Baby emerged as two of the league's young stars. The 2008-09 regular season was capped off with the team's 100th straight sellout, thanks to the best fans in the NBA.

Like the regular season, the Playoffs certainly did not lack intensity and jaw dropping moments. In the thrilling seven game Round 1 series against the Chicago Bulls, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen proved once again their All-Star status. Pierce and Allen led the Celtics to victory in the series, which set a new NBA record for the most overtime periods played in a postseason.

It was an exciting year and we want to thank all of our fans for your support throughout the season. We encourage you to stay informed and involved in the months to come. This off-season we'll continue to improve your season ticket holder experience through surveying, creation of new benefits, and research of best practices throughout the NBA and beyond. Please continue to share your comments and ideas through our ALL ACCESS feedback form, and we'll continue to do our best to deliver the benefits that mean the most to YOU, our loyal season ticket holders.

Thank you again for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the Garden in 2009-10!

April 27, 2009 - Chalk Talk Recap

Chalk Talk

Season ticket holder and lucky raffle winner Cynthia from Needham and her guests pose with the American Express Chalk Talk Panel at the Garden.

A select group of Celtics season ticket holders prepared for the 2009 playoff run with a Chalk Talk panel at the Garden on Friday, April 10. An invitation to the event was sent to season ticket holders who paid for their 2008-09 ticket package using an American Express credit card. Season ticket holders and guests enjoyed a panel moderated by Comcast SportsNet's Greg Dickerson and featuring Celtics Managing Partner Steve Pagliuca and Celtics alumni Tommy Heinsohn, JoJo White, Dana Barros, and Cedric Maxwell.

Guests were treated to the panel's thoughts and perspectives on the team for over an hour. Naturally, the upcoming playoff run was the background of most topics discussed by the panel. Celtics Legend Tommy Heinsohn touched on the difficulty of defending a title, but the panel was positive overall in regards to the Celtics chances of a strong playoff showing. The panel also discussed the importance of recent team additions Stephon Marbury and Mikki Moore, as well as key members of the 2008 Championship squad who have stepped up their games even more in 2008-09, namely Rajon Rondo, Kendrick Perkins, and Glen "Big Baby" Davis.

The panel took questions from season ticket holders and their guests. A few attendees were even lucky enough to chat one-on-one with the panelists after the formal portion of the event wrapped up. The day concluded with the chance for guests to take a picture with the 2008 Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy and win team autographed and panel autographed basketballs and opportunities for five lucky attendees to have a photo taken with the panel at center court.

Thanks to everyone who attended!
